Tonight from 5-8pm Hillsboro Village Events will be hosting over 200 young artists from St. Bernard Academy for the first Art Walk of the new year! Stop by Fire Finch to check out some awesome drawings and sculptures (and to have a glass of wine).
SBA is one of the oldest private K-8 schools in Tennessee and is celebrating its 143rd year of continuously educating students from the greater Nashville community.
In addition to a rigorous primary curriculum, students in all grades explore foreign languages, technology, music, and most importantly, ART. Lower level Art teacher Bo
...bbi Negron, and Upper level Art Teacher Jeff Clapp are thrilled that their students have an opportunity to show their creations at the first Hillsboro Village Art Walk of 2011.
Students in grades 1-5 have studied the works of Lichtenstein, Picasso, and Klee and then created art using mixed media to create works inspired by comic strips, pop art, cubism, and realism. Students in grades 4-8 have focused on original still life drawing and architecture, creating hand and head portraits, fall-themed still drawings and 3-D architecture renderings. Additional art, created by members of the thriving Young Artists Club will also be featured.
Most of the artwork appearing in the January Art Walk will also be featured at SBA’s Annual Art Show (to be held early March), along with newer pieces still in the making. With the generous support of the Village merchants, the SBA Art Show Committee will be raffling off a gift basket full of goodies from each store and original artwork by SBA’s teaching staff. All funds generated from the raffle will be used to purchase items on the SBA Art Room ‘wish list’.
